Who We Are

Our Story

Kimunyak Differently Abled Initiative (K.D.A.I) is a registered Community-Based Organization operating primarily in Samburu County, Kenya. K.D.A.I works to promote the rights, inclusion, dignity and well-being of persons with disabilities, with a focus on women, men, youth and children.

Through a rights-based and people-centered approach, K.D.A.I implements programs in advocacy, climate action, capacity building, mental health, digital inclusion, sustainable livelihoods, education, healthcare and social inclusion.

To empower persons with disabilities through advocacy, capacity building and sustainable development initiatives that promote inclusion, climate resilience, education, healthcare and mental well-being.

Inclusivity, Human Rights, and SRHR Advocacy

KDAI advocates for the rights and meaningful participation of PWDs in governance and community development, promoting gender equality, access to SRHR information and services, land rights, and participation in decision-making.

Climate Action and Environmental Sustainability

We promote climate resilience through climate-smart agriculture, water conservation, sustainable land management and environmental awareness, advocating for the inclusion of PWDs in climate action.

Digital Inclusion and Capacity Building

We empower PWDs with digital literacy, leadership and advocacy skills that enable them to access information, services, education, employment and development opportunities.

Sustainable Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment

KDAI promotes economic resilience through skills development, climate-smart agriculture, entrepreneurship and equitable access to land, resources, markets and opportunities.

Education, Medical Support, and Rehabilitation

KDAI supports children with disabilities to access education, and facilitates access to healthcare including corrective surgeries, physiotherapy, rehabilitation and medical referrals.

Mental Health and Psychosocial Well-Being

We promote mental health awareness, psychosocial support and counseling referrals, building inclusive communities that reduce stigma, discrimination and isolation.

Sports and Healthy Practices

KDAI promotes inclusive sports, games, recreation and healthy lifestyles as tools for physical well-being, confidence, talent development and social inclusion.
